Hopefully you can tell, after looking through this petite blog post, that Mary and Wade are one of the kindest, most welcoming and most sincere couples I’ve ever had the chance to photograph. I had not met them before their sweet wedding day (after all, a 6 hour car ride separates Chapel Hill from the tiny mountain town in Virginia where Mary lives!) but arriving to their wedding I felt like an old friend, welcomed with completely open arms. Mary is suuuuuch a talented wedding and portrait photographer (I KNOW RIGHT TALK ABOUT NERVY KNICKERS ON MY END) and her wedding reflected not just her eye for detail and beauty but also the value she and Wade put on family and history. I loveeeee that they celebrated their wedding on Wade’s family’s farm, that their personalities were present not just in the american flag details or the sweet invitations, but in the meaningful ceremony, the funny and personal toasts, the delicious southern reception menu and even the custom cocktails (…bourbon and homemade ginger ale COME ON).
What I think you might NOT be able to tell is that it rained pretty much the whole day! Sometimes just a light mist, but right in the middle of Mary and Wade’s wedding ceremony, a real downpour! Mary’s dress got so muddy, her hair all wet, but she handled the unpredictable fall weather with grace and good humor. I couldn’t feel more blessed to have the chance to share these photos with you all–it truly was such a fun, fun day for me (wet equipment and all) (because did I mention there was pumpkin pie) (THERE WAS). Congrats, you two!
